I wear dark socks with trainers when I have shorts on but roll the socks right down to the the ankles. Even in very hot weather I'll always wear trainers to ride the bike. I once wore sandals but my foot caught a tree stump that was buried in leaves. My big toenail ended up dropping off and I broke my toe. It still hurts even though it was years ago. Always wear good protective trainers for all activities these days.
