Another civil servant retires!!

Another top civil servant stands down?
SIR Richard Heighton who worked for the justice dept has
chosen early retire ment to serving under the brexit government??
It seems that these wasters prefer to accept a golden handshake
to serving out their time?
Cummings seem to be progressing well in his efforts to transform
our hidebound institutions by bribing the top dogs to get out before
he has to throw them out, which probably saves a lot of trouble??

Donkeyman! 👍👍😁👍👍

Hi

Times are certainly changing.

If they cannot be dismissed for legal reasons, they have to be paid off.

The problem is that it sets a precedent for political appointments.

Boris is succeeding where Blair failed in this respect.

We are moving to the American System.

It may be fine now, but they would all go if Labour got in and appointed their Cronies.

Blair? That POS was responsible for the mess that the CS has become by politicising the upper echelons.

First there's this one who's decided to leave:

"The UK's top civil servant will receive a payout of almost £250,000 when he steps down in September.

Sir Mark Sedwill confirmed he was leaving Whitehall last month as Boris Johnson announced plans to split his role as cabinet secretary and national security adviser into two posts."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53341462

Then another one decides to stand down:

"The permanent secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Sir Richard Heaton, will stand down from his role this summer.

Justice Secretary Robert Buckland praised him as "exceptional", with the "strongest of reputations".

Sir Richard is the fourth senior civil servant to announce his departure in six months, among calls within Downing Street for reform of the service."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53351672

Maybe they are all getting out before this considerable reduction in 'golden handshakes' actually comes into force:

Stay of execution for civil servants’ £95,000 redundancy cap

"Current redundancy terms for civil servants will remain in place until at least the end of this year, the government has told the Public and Commercial Services Union."

https://www.publicfinance.co.uk/news...redundancy-cap

Who's next I wonder?

Hi

Anyone who does not agree with Cummings.

The payoffs are basically what the Government would have to pay at a Tribunal for Unfair Dismissal less the legal costs.

Straightforward redundancies get the basic legal minimum.

There have been tens of thousands redundancies already on the legal minimum.

This is all about the big boys and girls who can cause the Government a great deal of trouble if they went to Tribunal.

Yes, it's costing the country a lot of money, but I think in the long run it will be to our benefit.
Get rid of the pro-EU, anti-British civil servants. They've done enough harm already. From what I hear, they have been following the 'Yes Minister' philosophy of running rings around their bosses: the government ministers.
I hope their replacements are put in post with the necessary provision for sacking if they fail to follow orders.

Hi

We have some crap Senior Civil Servants, I completely agree on that.

You are also correct in that the system must be changed if our quality of life is to be improved and we get better value for money.

It should be what you know, not who you know.

My concern is simply this.

It should be on merit, not political views.

Labour win, Starmer is ousted and we have a load of Marxist Civil Servants appointed to the top jobs.

It does not bear thinking about.

I thought they had to work their way up for several yyears and pass
tests before every promotion to prove they are compus mentis??
When did this all change??
Who writes the contracts of employment for them?? and who
accepts them for the government?
The sooner Cummins changes it all the better for us all!!

Erm ..... On 24 July 2019, Cummings was appointed as Chief Adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, a new position created by Johnson, to replace the role of Downing Street Chief of Staff.

Cummings is part of the Prime Minister’s special adviser team, entirely funded by the tax-payer.

He is among eight special advisers appointed by Johnson on pay band 4, which has salaries between £96,000 to £145,000.

Special advisers are temporary civil servants appointed to add a political dimension to the advice and assistance available to Ministers.
