A drive along the Bristol Channel.
I took the family out for an afternoon drive today, taking in a nostalgic route to places from my childhood that included a stretch alongside the Bristol Channel.
Panoramic view taken from the Clevedon to Portishead coast road, looking across the channel to Newport.
Another panoramic view on the approach to Portishead, overlooking the Windmill pub which strangely enough was built around an old windmill.
Looking upstream towards the second Severn crossing. The yellow coloured building is the old Portishead Lido.
Looking upstream with the old bridge in the background underneath the main span of the newer bridge, now both toll free. The colours may look odd, but it is actually a true representation of the light effect this afternoon.
Across the water. Usk is dead ahead, about 25 km away.
Battery Point and lighthouse, Portishead.
Denny island, a tiny outcrop of rock in the river Severn between England and Wales.
On our way home again, looking across the Gordano Valley towards Portishead.
