camera lens repair

I have decided to get one of my camera lens repaired . Since i
AS I can get away with using other lenses for the time being tripped over in Russia and the lens hood took the blunt of the fall, where the lens ridges that hold the hood in place one of them broke.
So this morning taken the lens to be looked at and repaired. The problem is Nikon do not sell parts direct to the general public , only to the trade.

It will be rather expensive but the lens is valued at around £1350 new and at about £800/£1000 used, not knowing the true condition of used ones it will be cheaper to get mine overhauled and repaired

Re: camera lens repair

Just heard about the cost to repair my lens, Nikon 24-70mm f2.8, by Camserve. I was pleasantly surprise at the quote, they even got the part cheaper than I could get it from the internet as they deal direct with Nikon.

This is the part that hold the hood onto the lens body. The lip you can see in the photo broke on one side when I dropped the camera and lens. The price quoted included part -repair - serviced and VAT.
It was well under what I expected to pay. As I have already claimed for camera repair I forgot to add this to the insurance claim but for the cost not worth the effort
