The EU would be in big trouble if that happened. They should manufacture over here, employ British people and in return take advantage of our trade agreements and pay the lowest rate of corporation tax in Europe.
Hi
Trade Agreements take years.
The EU is the biggest trading block in the world.
Why on earth should EU Manufacturers leave the EU and disadvantage themselves on the vague promise that at some time in the future we may have negotiated advantageous Trade Deals?
Size matters in Trade Deals, the bigger the market, the better deal you can negotiate.
We have got absolutely nowhere with Japan and India.
The Trade Deal we have just agreed with Switzerland is on worse terms than the one we had with them as part of the EU.
All trade deals involve country of origin certificates, minimum percentages of finished goods must be produced in the Country or Trade Block which is party to the FTA.
When we leave the EU we become a Third Country, this is already affecting some companies in the West Midlands who produce car parts.
There has to be a sense of reality here.
It will be some time before we can negotiate Trade Deals to replace those we have as part of the EU.
