It was one of my jobs to do the front steps with a ruddle stone (a type of soft coloured sand stone). The steps were washed first with soap and water using a scrubbing brush and then an orange line of around two inches using the stone was placed around the front and side edges of the steps so they stood out.Re: You Never See Women Scrubbing Their Front Doorstep Any More...So..
I used to polish my doorstep with cardinal red polish,but in 1992 my husband had a stroke & social services put in new concrete steps & hand rails to make it easier for him to get in/out,I do miss my lovely red step thoughRe: You Never See Women Scrubbing Their Front Doorstep Any More...So..
