Re: Jury Service

I am not bothered about the money, just a new experience.

Re: Jury Service

What will happen

You arrive with 100 odd others.

You sit in the canteen waiting to be called.
It can be boring.

At about 2pm if not called that day you are sent home.

Next day the same but you should be called for a trial on the second day.

You are called for two weeks.

If a trial is going to take longer than 2 weeks you are giving the option to be excused.

I'd go for the continuation in expectation of enhanced remuneration.

If a trial lasts more than 10 days, then for every day with over 4 hours spent on the trial (up to 200 days) you can claim £129.91.

If a trial lasts more than 200 days, then for every day with over 4 hours spent on the trial you can claim £228.06.

Re: Jury Service

Out of interest are you allowed to take smart/mobile phones into the court building if you are on jury service? Such things didn't exist when I did jury service so it didn't come up.
