At the precise time I was 21 I was getting tanked up in pub then a nightclub with my mates,
in the nightclub the DJ played a request for me by Gloria Gaynor
( I Will Survive) I nearly never did that night.
I was engaged, but in a job i did not like, healthy, had a good social life and living in a flat with a buch of mates, male and female and generally having a good time.
I took my first trip abroad on my own, flying to New York, then going by Greyhound bus to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara Falls, and into Boston to be near my American friend. Flew home from Boston.
This was when I was 21. And I seem to remember I had a blue budgie from my parents for my 21st.
I was engaged and trying to save for a deposit on a house. This was in 1972 when you needed a 5 or 10% deposit and the lending rules were fairly strict. 2 1/2 times main salary + 1 times second salary.
All worked out fine - still going strong after 40 years together.
I was married too, had one son and felt good about myself, my life and my young family.
Uhmmm Mupsy.....Are you going to tell us about your '21' ?
Yes I will Mr. Ploppy. I was married, had a dog, and was living in London, waiting for the imminent birth of my son, who was born New Years Eve. I also made the discovery my husband was "playing away" !!
