I think that the problems the EU are facing - vaccinations, etc - are all due to one basic disadvantage: SIZE.27 countries all under one overall rule and regulations, yet each with its own interests and needs and each insisting on having its voice heard. The result is a very slow process in their trying to achieve anything.

Who in their right mind wants an additional tier of government above their own, especially one that they cannot elect and which even elects itself (the Commission). That would be like our House of Lords having some real power which, thankfully, they do not.
