Dido Harding will face MPs on Wednesday 3 February

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55860865

The Commons day begins (11:30) with half an hour of Wales Questions, followed at noon by Prime Minister's Question Time.

The big event on the committee corridor is the Science and Technology Committee evidence session (09:30) on the governance, operation and performance of NHS Test and Trace, featuring Baroness Dido Harding, the Executive Chair of Test and Trace.
Harding will, no doubt, eschew the truth of the matter and, as usual, employ evasion with obfuscation .....

Another waste of time and another person dragged away from doing an important job at a time they're needed.

Exactly right Zaphod.

Labour, the SNP, Greens and Lib Dems are all light weights, their focussed opposition has done nothing except waste time and draw the wrong conclusions.

Test and trace chief Dido Harding says no one could predict new variant would emerge

https://www.theguardian.com/politics...08c315844c8fc8

She made the claim as she was defending the overall record of test and trace, in response to criticism from Greg Clark, the committee chair, who suggested that it had failed to stop England going back into a lockdown.

Harding said:

We have seen the new variant emerge, which was something that none of us were able to predict.
Harding never sees anything coming ..... there are none so blind as those who will not see .....

The rest of "us" (including, apparently, Matt Hancock), who've seen the movies, are well aware that viruses mutate .....

At least 20,000 people per day not self-isolating when they should, MPs told

https://www.theguardian.com/politics...latest-updates

In further evidence to the Commons science committee Dido Harding, head of NHS Test and Trace, said that at least 20,000 people a day were not self isolating.

In exchanges with Jeremy Hunt, the chair of the Commons health committee (but who gets invited to contribute to science committee hearings on Covid), Harding said there were different estimates of the number of people not fully complying with instructions to self-isolate, ranging from 20% to around 40%.

Assuming that 20% of people were not self-isolating, she said that would equate to around 20,000 people per day. That was based on there being around 700,000 cases or contacts being told to self-isolate every week, or around 100,000 per day.

But she also said that her “biggest concern” was not the 20% of people not self-isolating when told to, but the people who were feeling ill but who were not coming forward for testing in the first place.
Who knows where she's getting these figures from .....

Haven't watched it, but did she explain why the test and trace software/app was of negligible value pre-new-variant in spite of spending a small fortune on it?

Don't know about you, but I was kind of hoping that the app would be a bit like uber in that it shows realtime placement of where someone with covid is. A generic "you live in zone 3" or whatever doesn't really help.

Unfortunately, I am allergic to the face of "Incompetent" Harding so I am unable to watch anything that broadcasts it in case I throw a brick at the screen .....

As a consequence, I am dependent on written news reports - AFAIK, today's committee meeting did not discuss the TnT app but more may be disclosed in the committee report, if one becomes available .....
