Can you recommend a half-decent place to stay, Annie?

Gosh that's a good question. I've never stayed there just visited from the Surrey Hampshire borders as it's within easy driving range. (different motorway further south west) either wokingham or guildford are decent bases for exploring the area. If you want an even posher base than windsor then Henley on thames hits the spot. Some of the most beautiful countryside and most ambient pub lunches.

Oh well then. I take back what I said about having sympathy for him. His priorities clearly lie elsewhere. I know the queen will have people around her for support but it would have been nice to see him be part of that.

f we are honest, the queen would never have come to the throne if her uncle hadn't decided that Mrs Simpson was a better option than being kingI.
Charles, her son, needed a brood mare, so married Diana... but continued to to have a relationship Camilla, the woman he loved.
Most people believe that Andrew was involved in a sex scandal.
At least Harry has stayed with his wife, and whether we like her or not, he has brought a lot less disgrace to the family than his father & uncle did.

They are a family and maybe they have all made mistakes, just like most other families. I hope they can find a way to get over their problems & still care about each other.... because that is how all families should be!
I am just grateful that the press don't go out of their way to damage all families with their invasive press reports!

Many historians believe that a spell of mumps in Edward's youth rendered the Duke of Windsor royally infertile.

That would explain why he married a woman past her child bearing prime at 40. Allegedly she made a comment that he was a 'seedless raisin'. A problem he did not want revealed, probably. Not having an heir his niece would be Queen if he had not abdicated.

Should the taxpayers opinion be considered on how 'the firm' is to continue.

The Firm should be liquidated and an administrator appointed to pay the debts owed to the English, Scottish, Welsh, and Ulster creditors.

But not until 1972, or maybe later, seeing as some people think royalty live to a greater age because they get better care! She would have had a further 20 years to establish a more normal relationship with her children!

The same as any other country that doesn’t have a hereditary monarch we still call the post office the Royal Mail and it isn’t .

He married Mrs Simpson because he was infatuated with her I don’t believe he would give up the throne just to marry a childless woman. Women still have children at 40 it’s not impossible .

Re: Future of the Monarchy

Hi

The Funeral was exceptionally well arranged and organised.

It did the Monarchy no harm at all.

The Royal Air Force, Royal Navy etc are symbols of the UK as a country.

Far better then the Blair or Johnson Air Force or Navy.
