No think it would have helped when the Chernobyl pile ran amok

Their services are in the main financed by the NHS and local authorities. Although they earn an awful lot from the shops, running them also costs an awful lot (presumably rent/rates etc). They also receive a fair bit from direct donations from charitable organisations and individuals. The official patron is HM The Queen.

Having a royal patron increases donations and greatly raises the status of a charity. It's a certain measure of excellence. I'm not even sure why we are discussing this it's so obvious. Similar to organisations that have Royal charters and professional bodies it's a royal seal of approval.

They haven't had to sit any exams because of lockdown. In fact they are now talking of maybe scrapping exams altogether. So you could nod off in a lecture theatre for four years, download your essay from the internet to get the coursework marks and then walk into a responsible job. Nuts!

Re: Future of the Monarchy

No I disagree entirely having a Royal Patronage makes no difference at all
I give to charities because I want to I have never looked at who is the patron.
So you say the NHS and local authorities are Sur Ryders main financiers .
More proof that Royal Patronage means nothing .

From Wiki

Fundraising[edit]

Sue Ryder has over 450 charity shops in the UK, which provide more than £3 million income annually.
Sue Ryder's income was £49.6 million during the year ending 31 March 2018, which included £26.9 million from NHS and local authority funding, and £20.7 million from fundraising campaigns and retail sales (both online and in the charity's 449 shops). The income was used for providing 2.5 million hours of care to over 97,000 people in the UK.In addition to full-time staff, the charity currently has more than 11,000 volunteers supporting its work across the UK, which in 2017/18 accounted for an estimated £30.2 million worth of work.[17] Volunteering roles cover many areas of the charity's work, including administration, catering, transport, gardening, fundraising, finance, retail, photography, events coordination, cleaning, research, befriending and bereavement support.

The Royal patronage will ensure local authorities and the NHS see the charity as a credible organisation. Don't forget the royals are patrons of many NHS organisations. If you think about the names of hospitals, the names of parks, the Royal societies, the royal professional bodies even royal parks. no idea why you disagree.

Based on everything that I have learned about the Chernobyl event it would have made not one iota of difference to have had grad level reactor driving staff.

Because it's all bullshit. Part of the keeping them in the public eye as if they were in some way involved.

Ever heard about continuous assessment? In any case how long ago was it when you went up to university?

Was Viktor Brukhanov sufficiently qualified to build it?

I have to do continuous professional development in my role. I also had to pass a large number of post-grad professional exams to qualify.
