Christmas adverts.

Whatever happened to traditional Christmas adverts that actually portray "traditional Christmas "?

And traditional Christmas songs?

Rap songs? Since when did rap ever become part of traditional Christmas songs?

Tesco seems like a good reasonable and seasonal Christmas advert, apart from the Tesco delivery driver doing a curtsee to the Queen?

Since when did Men do a curtsee instead of a bow to the Queen ?

That's just wrong in soooooo many ways ! And I'm not even a royalist!

Re: Christmas adverts.

John Lewis play 'I can't fight this feeling anymore'

M&S play 'Albatross'

It seems Christmas songs/hymns are out of favour for some.

All that went when Christmas became very commercialised and greed crept in. Time all this stopped as it causes so many problems for those that really cannot afford Christmas. They do their best and often get into debt to give their children the best Christmas they can, often ending up in even more debt for the next year!

Christmas ads are such a cliche. It's a pity the big businesses have not caught on that they are no longer in tune with the reality of 2019.

Once again, the John Lewis Ad this year, is reported to have cost around £7M. As clever as the Ad is, I would have preferred a message on screen saying that JL had donated £7M to charities for the homeless.

Re: Christmas adverts.

Retail businesses such as Asda etc. conduct market research and know which percentile of the buying public buy the most and what it is that they buy. Everything that is scanned at checkout is captured and then analysed in order to extract information from data.

Knowing this means that advertising is then focussed on a target group that will result in the biggest bang for the buck.

That's why so many of the Christmas ads look to 'orrible and un-traditional to oxygen thieves like most of us.

As an aside I think most people would be gobsmacked to see how much information can be gleaned from the raw data that emerges from checkouts and the AI algorithms and methods used to extract that information.

In this country homelessness is very badly defined and rough sleeping is a choice not a necessity.
