Back

Did my back last week.

To get out of bed put my knees to the floor and pushed my self up still still with some pain.

Off to the doctors and given pain killers a hundred of them.

Over five days took nine so still have ninth left.

Theses are opridos and addictive 54k Americans died last year because of these pain killers.

Why proscribe so many that are adivceted.

Sorry about spelling

Re: Back

Galty, I often think they prescribe pills because it the quickest way out, instead of sending you for an x-ray or scan.

I can understand you being wary about them being addictive.

Is there a local physio or chiropractor you could ring to try and get an appointment quickly?
I would prefer that if it was me.

Good luck. Hope you feel better before Christmas.

Re: Back

Sorry Galty, I misunderstood.
I thought you were still in severe pain.

I agree, 100 strong pain killers seems very excessive to me.

Re: Back

I'm surprised they gave you so many tablets but hope they helped

My daughter lifted a heavy box from the boot of her car and hurt her back . Was in hospital 3 days on morphine . Sent home with no pain killers told to take ibroprophen and paracetamol.

6 weeks off work .

Back pain is awful

Re: Back

Hand the unused ones back to a pharmacy Galty and be glad you're rid of both the bad back and them !
Disgraceful really that you were prescribed so many.
I suffered a serious back injury , a prolapsed disc , many years ago but was only prescribed Paracodol .
Is it the drug companies who are pushing GP's into prescribing
opioids ?

Re: Back

I am amazed you were prescribed so many painkillers Galty
I can only take opiates (Codine) not NSAIs for pain because of the other medication I take.
I have been told that should I need to take any it must only be for three days at a time to prevent addiction.

I avoid painkillers anyway and use ice/heat/meditation/stretching exercises as appropriate.

Glad to hear your back is now better .

Re: Back

Galty, Did the painkillers make you constipated? That’s one of their drawbacks, so l usually take half of one painkiller and it works fine.

I am pleased that you’re better for Christmas as back pain is so debilitating.

Was told about that but only took them for three days.

Back is still a bit odd

But will not take any more pain killers.
