Re: A new trade deal in the making

Hi

We will get out of it, the Australians will get what they want out of it.

WTO Rules are simple and brutal.

Services are nit included.

Any trade deal depends on the Politicians signing it.

I am not convinced that Boris and Co are World Beaters.

Yes.
Don't treat the rest of us like fools just because you might be one.
We all know about this stuff.
It's old news here - and it has no bearing on the thread topic either.
Not of course that such trivialities usually concern you.

This thread is about the Oz trade deal as you should know.
You started the thread.

Jim Cornelius doesn't understand why we voted leave either.

Catherine McBride is an economist with 19 years’ experience working in financial services, primarily trading financial, equity and commodity derivatives. Before joining the IEA, she worked for the Special Trade Commission at the Legatum Institute and ran Financial Research for the Financial Services Negotiation Forum (FSNForum), developing ideas about financial service governance and policy to support growth and prosperity after the UK leaves the EU. Catherine has previously worked in derivatives with ADM Investor Services International, Chase Manhattan, Baring Securities, Bain & Co Securities part of Deutsche Bank Australia and as a financial analyst for IBM.

... and Jim Cornelius is who exactly ?

Funny how character assassination is the only weapon in the remainers arguments.

Yes, but they get their facts right even though their forecast may be wrong

Although I’m surprised you don’t comprehend the difference between fact and forecast 😲

You deserve one of these, I see:

As you said: "their forecast may be wrong" and that was the bit I highlighted in my post so in effect you're arguing with yourself.
The mistake about comprehension is all yours.
You're welcome for the clarification I've had to give you to aid your poor comprehension BTW.

Just like the UK NewZealand trade deal means much more? The UK teaching NZ to incorporate more women in business?

Liz Truss, the secretary of state for international trade, told*The Independent*that trade is a “powerful tool for advancing gender equality and empowering women”.

“As trade secretary, I want to strike deals that break down barriers and help level the playing field,” Ms Truss, who also serves as women and equalities minister, added.

The sheer arrogance!

New Zealand, one of the few nations to have had three female leaders, has a number of progressive policies on women’s rights and gender equality. In 2018, it became the first country in the world to pass legislation which gives domestic abuse victims 10 days of paid leave from work to flee their partner.

Last month, New Zealand became one of the first countries to give parents who suffer miscarriages or stillbirths paid leave from work, after parliament voted in favour of giving both mothers and their partners three days of bereavement leave.

That is no arrogance.
Maybe L.Truss was accidentially not well enough prepared. Look at the picture that I attached, L.Frost was also not too well prepared on his first WA meeting with M.Barnier, considering the paperwork that is on the table.

New Zealand just sold out to China.

Jacina Adern should be fired on the spot for this, its a reckless decision to put 5 eyes at risk.

She is no leader - not by a long shot.

Lord Frost was more prepared than the others by not disclosing the documents in a photo shoot, instead putting them out of sight and out of the public domain.

Re: A new trade deal in the making

Forget the EUrotroll trashy interpretations, here's the report in the Independent which is the only UK media to cover this.

"While ministers have made an agreement with New Zealand to have a section on women in trade, the exact details of the chapter cannot be revealed, as negotiations are still ongoing.

Liz Truss, the secretary of state for international trade, told The Independent that trade is a “powerful tool for advancing gender equality and empowering women”.

“As trade secretary, I want to strike deals that break down barriers and help level the playing field,” Ms Truss, who also serves as women and equalities minister, added.

The Independent understands the government hopes UK exports to New Zealand could be boosted by up to £100m, and British employees’ wages by up to £200m via the trade deal."

"The chapter in the NZ agreement shares parallels with a women’s empowerment chapter drawn up in the UK’s trade deal with Japan, which marked the first chapter of its kind to ever be included in a British trade negotiation."

You see: ministers on both sides have already agreed the bit on gender equality.
And - better yet - it's similar to a chapter in out deal with Japan.
Some "arrogance" there then and another example of the deliberate misinformation prevalent from EUrophiles - but that as we know is the EU way.
