Yes, the UK.

The rest of your ramble is as usual both misleading and outdated.

Unless you really didn't know that were are allegedly on track to sign a trade deal with Australia at the G7 summit, according to Liz Truss via The Times?
Tell us if you can: where exactly are the EU at with a trade deal with Oz?

You ask why it is possible to buy goods cheaper from a global market than a protectionist union so TBH I'm not sure if you were being serious or if it was some sort of failed attempt at sarcasm?

So I will give you just one example from what I'm pretty sure could be a very long list:
Oranges.
The EU subsidizes Valencian oranges.
As an EU member you must pay sometimes huge extra tariffs on imported (to the EU) oranges to protect EU growers in Spain.
South African oranges are cheaper.
Israeli too and there are bound to be others.
But I’ve always been able to buy oranges from all over the world
As prices that never seemed excessive

Out of interest what was the EU tariff on oranges?

I surmise in 2020 the UK and EU tariffs on oranges from third countries was the same. Oranges from spain, italy and greece had no tariffs, those from marocco were imported based on a trade deal.
For 2021 the UK has published its own tariffs. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tariffs-...ed-into-the-uk

Look it up yourself.
It's a great example of EU protectionism but there are plenty more equally-great examples.
Confiscating vaccines is of course one of the most-recent examples.

How many vaccines did you sent to the british friends in india? Or did you tell them you haven't enough yourself?

But perhaps james dyson can send them some of his ventilators?

You don’t know what it was then and yet you and others make a big deal of it.

It seems legitimacy of the AZ vaccine export intervention will become clear through the courts in determining whether there was a breach of contract or not.

It's already clear and has been for months.

Sorry, foxhole news and veracity don’t go hand in hand but I now have a clearer understanding of how you form your views
