In the US, we have wood stoves, and we can purchase, or cut our own, buy a cord of wood, or a face cord of wood.
It measures four feet high by four feet wide by eight feet long (4 ft. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.) and has a volume of 128 cubic feet. The amount of solid wood in a cord varies depending on the size of the pieces, but for firewood it averages about 85 cubic feet.
Neatly stacked outside many homes every fall and winter.
Thanks for the info, I knew what cord was but not the actual measurement. I shall add that to my memory bank.
