Re: Treachary Afoot :
Hi
The Divorce Bill, so called.
There are two parts to it, the first being commitments, which rightly or wrongly, have been signed up to by our Politicians and legacy costs.
We have agreed a formula for calculating the various amounts involved and these payments, which come both ways, will be payable over a number of years.
Irrespective of what JRM and others say, we need to pay these monies, any dispute will be subject to international arbitration, not paying will make it exceedingly difficult to borrow the money we need to borrow year on year.
It will also make new Trade Deals more difficult, as we would be in breach of agreements.
There is then the monies we have as grants from the EU as well as Regional Development Funds, which are spent over a number of years. ,long after Brexit.
We have a few £billion owing us from our share of the EU Bank, which we will get back as loans are repayed.
We have a few loans ourselves from it, Cross Rail being one such.
The rest of it, over half, is down to us asking for an extension to the 2 year Article 50 Period.
We asked simply because we are not ready to leave and that is down to our Government not being organised, no other reason.
We have not even got the Immigration Desks ready to check EU Immigrants after Brexit day, much less the staff and computer systems we need.
This is costing the Taxpayer an arm and a leg, which is totally wrong.
