t is not about pandering to the DUP, it is respecting the rights of the majority in NI who wish to remain in the UK.

Why not simply annex Ireland into the UK and leave the EU. Subsequently those parts that wish to do so can leave the UK and apply for EU membership.
I wouldn't be surprised if by that time Ireland as a whole decides on it's future, as will the Scots and perhaps the Welsh.

As for the Scots, of course they are waiting in the background to see what the Irish accomplish, and will demand a similar arangement.
