The Pretendies.

English Grandad.

No having to go to Church First on Sunday, Breakfast at McDonalds

No having to be on best behaviour brfore and after Church.

No having to listen to Mum and Dad arguing, just a laugh.

I'm not sure about these two assertions, though.

Do they really catch only fish which we do not eat? How do their nets manage to differentiate between different types of fish? I have heard that they also, unintentionally, catch and haul up dolphins and porpoises, etc., which then die through suffocation.

Are you sure that they have inspectors on board to monitor their fishing? British or EU inspectors?

If both of these things are true and provable, I suppose the supertrawlers are more acceptable. I can't say that I have read such things elsewhere, though.[/QUOTEHi

We do not have inspectors on board, other countries do , the Americans in particular.

These supertrawlers cost around a £100k a day to operate, shutting them down is very costly to the owners.

They have very sophisticted sonar and fishfinders have have real time video of what is going in the nets.

All we need is Enforcement.
You say he super trawlers only catch pelagic fish Swimmy ??
Seeing as how pelagic means " lives far from land" why do they
spend days, even weeks, patrolling up and down our coastal waters??
Especially as you say it costs them £ 100,000 day to operate??

They are very efficient and also very easy to control,

You have inspectors on board, they are limiyed in by catch and fined heavily if they go over the limit, and then stopped of they continue.

The bycatch is not tipped back dead, it is processed, frozen and given to food banks.

The americans use rhis system as do the Danish around Greenland.

Maybe that works for Super Tankers Swimmy, as the Fish and
anything else is processed on board the boat ??
But the smaller boats are penalised if they LAND any unauthorized
catch !! ergo, the dumping overboard??
A very stupid system imo !!

This is only one of our problems which remains to be addressed by our government (others include immigrants and Northern Ireland, of course).

I wonder how long we shall have to wait.

Until 2024? If nothing's done by then, I'm voting for the Reform UK party. They have all the right priorities as far as I'm concerned...

although I'm sure that others will disagree with me!

Under the CFP if a boat lands a payload full of whiting which they have no quota for, back it goes, dead. Similarly if the boat catches a payload full of whiting and later catches a more valuable species such as cod, the whiting is dumped in favour of landing the more profitable cod.

A very stupid system indeed DM

Supertrawlers nets are about 1 mile long and they process the fish on board the ship so it's a completely different setup to a smaller boat. They also destroy marine life such as natural habitats, porpoises and dolphins which swimmy thinks is a good idea. They also fish illegally in protected zones, if they were such a great idea the Australians wouldn't have banned them.

Hi

HGV's cannot travel to Kent without a Kermit, the queues are inland.

Even with a Kermit 20% are turned back.

We export a third of every pig we kill to the EU.

The heads, trotters, lungs, liver kidneys , tripe etc.

This is not now happening.

It is going to landfill.

Entire supply chains are being disrupted.

Boris has signed us up to a crap deal, far worse than the one May failed to get through.

No they are not.
If you think they are you can surely provide evidence for your erroneous claims?

I can provide proof that you're talking rubbish:
'The UK has been granted "national listed status", ensuring that exports to the EU of live animals and animal products can continue after the end of the Brexit transition.'
https://www.thepigsite.com/news/2021...-export-market
That is the pig industry's own source for news BTW; see if you can find any mention of what you allege.

Here's the National Pig Association - they offer advice on the paperwork to export but again nothing about what you allege.
Delays because of missing or incorrect paperwork yes, but nothing much else.

Oh and BTW, over half our pork exports go to China.

Please stop it with the opinionated carp.
When even arch-Brexiters like Sir Bill Cash and the ERG are happy you're just making yourself look like a moaner.

Yeah, Sky news is 24 hour speculation.
