Royal Mail say:

We aim to deliver to addresses in urban areas by 3pm every working day and addresses in rural areas by 4pm every working day (exceptions are made for remote areas with limited transport links such as the Highlands and Islands of Scotland).

Whilst our aim is to meet these times wherever possible, there may be slight delays in some extreme circumstances, e.g. traffic delays or adverse weather conditions.

Post here usually comes between 2 and 3 pm unless its recorded/special delivery and that gets here before 12

Like most people who have replied, we get very very little personal mail - cards for special occasions and thats about it - so we don't care what time the post comes. A bill is still the same amount if it comes before 12 or after 2pm

Me neither. He appears at all different times, anywhere between 7am - 10am.

Re: Do You Miss The Postman Not Delivering Letters On Bank Holidays?

Do you get a concession as a pensioner in the UK?

Postage costs in Australia are $1 (50p) for letters up to 250 gms and within a certain size limit up to 5mm thick (I am going from memory here but that is about right.) I don't think that is too bad considering the size of the country.

Pensioners get 40% off with up to 50 concession stamps a year for 60c. I am not sure if it has done anything to save Australia Post (still owned by the government).
