I've been here right from the start of the forum in 2009

I'm sure you will get the hang of it soon .... if you have any problems finding your way around, start a thread in Forum Help .... http://www.over50sforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 ....then someone will be along soon to help you.

I just 'hover' and click, the 'games' posts come up but I just ignore them.

First welcome Ryder (Is that your realname)
Second, on this forum if you click on 'reply' at the bottom your words go to all registered members and I believe all non registered people who are viewing the site (But they can't respond of course)

There is a more 'private' message service but I've never quite understood how it works

The Lord High Moderator (Azz) runs another site called Dogsey and the private message service on there is much better.

Anyway, so long as you don't send anything too personal you'll be fine. Give my regards to Bexleyheath, I used to work there but it was at least five decades ago so has probably changed a bit since them.

People come and go, it's not quite the same as a conversation across the dining table I don't know what the etiquette is but if I've done one or two responses I usually say if I'm going to log off, if I've just done one response I'll often just go and come back next day to see if anyone has said anything.

With me it's usually NO in fact Azz has dubbed me the thread terminator
