Without evidence to the contrary, you can't say for certain that it is a lie. However, given that it's still British territory, I'd argue there is a legitimate interest in protecting it which is a far cry from parking a boat off the coast of Syria!

Think the Navy has a base there.

So accourding to a....... the Royal Navy should stop using their bases because they might upset some one.

The UN have inspectors in Syria, who as yet have not been allowed to leave their hotel. Whoever is responsible for these attacks will not stop until they have embroiled other countries into hostile action.

At least Obama is being cautious, Bush would have gone in by now and to hell with the consequences! Can you imagine the outcry if any western countries got involved with another expensive war with the state of the economies. It may seem heartless of them, but, I think whoever goes in has to do the right thing, straight away, any mistakes could make things worse and see us all dragged in and it will be a World war.

Heck. I didn't realise the full extent of the chemical attack. Far worse than I thought and many that died were children.

MSF-backed hospitals treated Syria 'chemical victims

Twiz darlin' Cameron and Obama have already spent an inordinate amount of time on the telephone to each other in the past few days and I wouldn't mind betting they are planning some form of intervention. Its no coincidence that the American 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean are now either on their way to or already 'parked' just off the coast of Syria.

Of course Cameron has to convince 'us' that intervention is the right course of action. Unlike Bliar, he cannot argue 'weapons of mass destruction' as Bliar did over the (illegal) invasion of Iraq.

Re: Syria - US ships move in!

The situation is really gathering pace now and like Uncle Joe has said it looks like Cameron and Obama are thrashing out a response; no-doubt are obliged and expected to respond in some military manner owing to the scale of the chemical weapon usage. This is serious s*** when you consider Russia and China are very much involved with Syria in more ways than one.
