The EU referendum: YES to remaining in the EU thread.

We are soon going to be deluged with opinions for and against remaining in the EU .
Maybe those who would like to remain in the EU the 'YES ' people would like to share their views here to help us all to decide .

'No' voters thread here...

Re: The EU referendum: YES to remaining in the EU thread.

Well Meg. I voted No in 1974 as I didn't like the way we had
to dump Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc. We had to take
the European butter and milk etc.
It was just a trading place in those days and that was supposed
to be it.
It has become more of course nowadays and I think that is the
problem. I feel that if David can negotiate a slightly different
way of thinking then it is worth it staying in. Big business no
matter if you like it or not rule what a Country can or cant do.
They have the money of course.
The freedom of movement over Europe for our people is because
we are in the EU. Take us out of it and you will find your movement
abroad wont be like it is now. You will be classed as a Alien.
I remember in 1967 when I went to work in Amsterdam. I
was classed as an alien and it isn't nice believe me. I had to
have all my papers checked and every 6 months go for a chest
X-Ray to see if I had TB even though I had the whole in my arm
where I had had the TB jab when I was 14. Had to pay for the
Doctor, the dentist etc. Good job my employer paid for it as
I certainly couldn't. I was a nanny to two little girls.
My son works abroad in Europe and he would be in trouble with his
job, his mortgage and the good wage he gets. Others like him too.
Lots of big business has said that they will leave the UK if we leave.
You have to take that seriously as it will effect our economy.
I have never liked being in the EU but we now rely on it and its
benefits whether we like it or not. It will cut the blood supply off
if we leave and we will have no one else but ourselves to back us
up. Probably our downfall too.

It is a big Yes from me to stay in, we can't afford to be out the biggest trading market in the world, it would kill us off for good and proper.
Say no at your peril.
By all means lets get better terms, but whatever happens we should stay in.
We probably have as many as 3 million UK folks working in the EU, they stand a big chance of losing their jobs if we come out, and the UK couldn't afford that, another 3 million unemployed.
Think very carefully where you put your X.

As the 'big three' Tory/Labour/SNP want Us ALL to vote YES to stay in....I guess that's how it will be....scare-mongering and threats worked last Sept' with the majority of Scots..so I can only imagine it will work again with the majority of British....I, like most Folks, just don't really know what it all entails,so haven't a clue how I'll vote, and hopefully when the time comes Some sensible clues will be forthcoming...But I won't hold My breath!

What an excellent post BowieEyes, you have it well summed up. So many people say they want out but they really don't think about the knock-on effects it will have in a really huge way.

Being in the EU gives us protection from non EU countries. If we vote to get out, we'll be inundated by American, Chinese and Russian companies and goods.

Much as we need the EU, we do NOT need Germany to be the EU dictator, much as it would like to be, and a great deal of very careful negotiation needs to take place AND for the EU (read Germany here) to need the UK.

Whatever he negotiates will not satisfy the no folks, look when you are a member of a club you have to follow the rules, good or bad, you just can't cherry pick.
Being in makes us stronger as well, we need our allies to help defend this nation, folks forget that.
If you read bias scaremongering newspapers you will never get true facts.

Yes I would be fascinated to hear, many of the companies in my area are USA, Japanese etc and they employ thousands, the only EU companies are taking jobs from UK companies such as building and the like.
