Re: Lottery Stats

Couldn't understand the reasoning of the boss's comments, to make it fresh and exciting. Or words to that effect.

As others have said, put it back down to £1 a pop, and take away all the extraneous games, and more people might play.

Re: Lottery Stats

I was confused when they put it up as it made no sense. They said it had been one pound for years and needing now increasing. If that was fact why was the main prize not doubled as a result? Rip of way of raising funds which would normally be paid from taxes.

We have decided that we won't bother anymore now as it's just ridiculous.

My wife used to spend £12 per week - that's over £600 a year - and she cut that right down and we haven't done the National Lottery this week.

I have £10 on the Postcode Lottery too but there is statistically a better chance on that so that's all we will do until I retire then - no more. stevmk2

£22 per week saved over a year would pay for a good couple of holidays!

People very much are stupid and kept that way deliberately.

Simple odds and maths are enough to defeat many people. If you set up a simple dice rolling game as follows, lots of Sheeple would play it:

Rules

Pay £1 to roll a die
If you roll a 6 you win £3
If not you have lost your £1

Maybe it doesn't sound "enticing" enough but I am sure people would happily try their luck. You can even increase that payout from £3 to £5.

The point is that the game is a losing game. Even if you win ! But many people will just not see that.

The math is very simple. On average you will roll a 6 every 6 throws. It will thus cost you £6 for those 6 rolls and when you roll the 6 you are only getting paid £3 or £5. You therefore can not win. It is a losing proposition.

The lottery is a nonsense and always has been. The odds of winning are ridiculous (1 in 14mill) and will be even more ridiculous now.

I also noted for the first 5-10 years that when they show the ball selection on TV, they NEVER show the top half and bottom half of the machine at the same time. i.e. in one TV frame you see the balls spinning around, then the camera switches to a view of just the outlet with the ball popping out. Thus since the lottery's inception, you have never been able to video record the proceeding, wind it back and watch in slow motion, the ball bouncing around and then coming out of the hole in one straight camera shot. You must ask yourselves why that is !!

Lots of ways the lotto can be rigged. The Sheeple put their trust in "authority" and authority takes advantage of that stupidity.

So Realist, what are the odds/chances of being born on planet earth, the big lottery of which you were a winner?
