Well we would have no where for the ceremonial, no focal point for them to stand on the balcony, which is important I think (having stood at the gates on a couple of occasions).She also I believe holds many dinners with important people from around the world which I am not sure would be so impressive if she had to do them in the local burger king. She manages to smooth over many things I would suggest by impressing and wooing those people.
I think from what people say when I have met them outside the gates from around the world, that we would lose a lot of status and visitors as for many this is what they come to see.
