With auto I find those that have them tend to use the brakes more, so must get through brake shoes quicker
Just try slowing down through the gears on an auto box then on a manual gearbox, that is when the difference really shows up
I don't drive aggressively anymore so don't tend to call on the brakes much anyway but the autobox on the Rover 75 is 4 speed and does provide quite a bit of slow down. 4th gear doesn't kick in until I'm approaching 50. I still get from A-B as quickly as anyone else and on the motorway well I could easily cruise all day in the 80s. Sounds like you are in a bit of a rush at all times .

Plenty of engine braking on my Peugeot 508 if you want it, also has the paddles if you want to play. Autos have certainly moved on in recent years...

Re: Best car features/options

bast car feature ever was the front bench seat with the gear lever on the steering column. Not that I did it but driving along with an arm around the girl close up, etc etc. Good old days

Of course......you are right about them moving on.....no more 3 gears or struggling up hills and yes you do have more engine braking when in semi auto/sport mode but not nearly as much as a manual.

You don't see many automatic race cars.

One of the best features I have ever used and miss on a car is a heated front windscreen (Ford).

I can never get orgasmic about any features on any car like some of the petrol heads out there. A car is just a way of getting from A - B without getting wet. Now motorbikes, that's an entirely different thing.
