But in some words the H is silent.With a H at the end of the word it might well be pronounced as you've illustrated ... but with a H among the word, as in witch or which, the H is often not so they sound the same.
In fact .. my ruff and rough still sound the same with the H at the end of rough. I don't end it ...ug.
If we're going to be sticklers for spelling I humbly offer ...
