Thanks, must rememberto look out for that when I next order some boots, where we walk the dogs is terribly rough and now the snow has come it's quite dangerous at times.

Re: Iced up Saturday!

Good evening everyone, very late today as we've been visiting relations that are going away for Christmas and that we won't see until the new year.

We bought some of those boot spiky things last year from Amazon, but we took that long to decide to order them that we were almost into Spring and missed the snow and ice! Having said that I hope we don't need them this Winter either, we hate the cold and ice and snow...brrrrr....

Enjoy what's left of the evening folks, and mind your step and wrap up warm if you decide to go out clubbing.....

Many thanks, Marpaul! I must try and get them but I would still be terrified!! That's what I am afraid I do - fall and break either the same one I broke before (which made my left arm with a bone sticking out at the wrist and have to type with the side of my fingers), or my right arm - or legs! I will look on Amazon.

Many thanks again.

Take care

Re: Iced up Saturday!

This time last year we were up to our wotsits in the infernal snow and ice, so hopefully the Penines will do their job properly this year and shield us.

The shoe grippers shown aren't like the ones Ann uses. I wish I could describe them or show you, but it's a sort of over-boot thing with spikes from heel to toe.

This will sound bonkers, but when I lived in Berlin (1981) I slipped and fell on ice in my lovely fashion boots so I was whisked off into the city centre that weekend for something proper. I bought a pair of boots and the soles are like tractor tyres. I've still got them and I always feel 100% safe walking in them in the ice. They're not pretty, but they do the job!

Re: Iced up Saturday!

Aaaarrrggghh!

Amen to that, Annie. I've just been out to my car to nip to the shop, and my windscreen had a light coating of ice on it. Went back into the house to find last year's de-icer and got a few squirts out of it. Then I noticed our road. Oh my stars! It's completely iced over BUT when I turned the corner and other corners, not a sign of ice. Just my little road!

I've bought a new can of de-icer though, just to be on the safe side.

Barry, decide to go out clubbing you must be joking, first the nearest half decent club if 70 miles away, then we would need to clear the 100 yards of snow to get to the road, and finally SWMBO will not go anywhere without the dogs so they would have to come and can you imagine what two 65Kg. Newfies would do on a night club dance floor

I've got a pair of boots that have a spiky attachment on the heels. You just flip it down when it's icy, then flip it back up if you were going into a shop.
Sounds very 'James Bond'

Good idea though, I've not seen those either.

Re: Iced up Saturday!

There was still some snow lying around when I got up, but since that it's just been raining and now it's all frozen!!!!!! I bought some of those Ice Grippers from Amazon last year. They are great-was able to walk Hatti round to recreation ground, and was also able to get to supermarket for shopping. Have them ready now, just in case!!

Household jobs this morning, then off to supermarket after dinner for weekly shop-was pleasantly surprised just how quiet it was!

Weather supposed to be much better tomorrow, so may be going down to Derbyshire till Monday-I'll make my mind up when I get up and open the curtains!
