Nice, LQ.

I got to thinking out how my grandparents favorite summertime diversion was to sit outside on the front porch swing in the evenings and chat with people who walked by.

I tend to be moving if I am outdoors, but like late evenings sitting on the decks or balconies - sometimes with the computer .

I have always liked the idea of those. We don't really have them here.

Sit outside most nights summer and spring our house faces west but the garden gets the sun all day long

its been 40c all this last week on our terrace in the shade fabulous cold beer in hand during the day have to stay in the shade far too hot if you do not get you jobs done by 11am forget it

Luckily we have gardeners and people to do the pool so just ply them with mass agua

How I would love to, in my own garden I mean, but being in a flat I don't have the chance. I use to sit in the grounds, but no more.

Re: Do You Sit Outdoors?

Since about 3 years ago..there have been many children playing in our cul de sac.
In the spring and summer and early autumn it reminds me of the road I grew up on (which incidently is only on the next estate away). Children are socialising and making up proper games and just having fun.
New neighbours (retired) over the road to me are having a lot of building and work done at the back of their house so they sit on a bench in their front garden.
So now instead of sitting secluded at the back, I also sit on garden chairs out by the front porch, especially after watering my hanging baskets n such like.
Others are doing the same...some parents come to check on their children and will sit on walls and gate posts to chat

We have become a very sociable little street!

Come the dark nights we won't see each other for about 5 months or so though!
