Should Animals be Used for Research ?

Should Animals be Used For Research

Is there really any need in this day and age ? To me, it seems like one of my own being caged for life.

Be warned , a real weepy.

Re: Should Animals be Used for Research ?

We've had threads on this in the past I believe PD, and I think the majority of people were against it.
There were some who thought it necessary though, one in particular kept insisting animals were 'lesser' creatures than humans and so why not use them if it benefits us!!

I am an animal lover and have been all my life, so I would rather not look at the video's, they will only upset me greatly, but achieve nothing else.

Lastly I would like to say that anyone who sees intense fear in a creature's eyes and hear's their cries of pain or even anticipation pain, yet can still carry on with their job regardless, deserves the same treatment as they are dishing out.

Re: Should Animals be Used for Research ?

How can research on the environment, agriculture, husbandry or aquaculture be carried on without animals being involved?

Will using pedophiles, rapists and murderers etc be of much use when researching milk yields, growth rates of farmed fish or cattle stocking rates per hectare in drought conditions (it sounds a really stupid idea to me)

I don't think you have thought this through.

I love animals too but this is a difficult one, so many medical advances would not have happened had we not used animals. There are centres where people can volunteer and be paid to take part in medical trials... Truly I'm not sure where I stand on this.

Have to admit I can't watch the videos either.

It's the repetitive pointless going over long since proven tests I'm against .
I firmly believe cosmetic and other non essentials should be tested on humans .

Yes I'm with you on that rips, and I make a point of buying cosmetics with no animal testing involved

Re: Should Animals be Used for Research ?

Hi

We are not there yet in relation to testing medicines for humans, we are making vast progress in stem cell research which will greatly reduce the need for testing on animals.

veterinary products will still need to be tested on animals, unless we accept that there will be no more new veterinary medicines available.
