Why is it that a meal seems to taste better when someone else makes it?

Alice darlin' - you don't know me very well (yet). Food is food is food as far as I'm concerned and it matters not whether I make it or someone else does, it all goes down the same hole and I relish it irrespective.

I have always assumed it's because everyone else uses salt in their cooking

Must say I do too, might taste better with salt but I know mine is better for my health.

I do love going out for something to eat, but I find myself comparing it to how I would prepare it.

I am not saying that I am a good cook, and I never ever put salt in the food. I let people decide if they require it afterwards.

Its like I would love to have a salad sometimes when we go out in the summer. But the pubs or restaurants only seem to put lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber in their salad or some strange concoctions that I don't consider to be a salad.

Several years since ive had a meal cooked by someone else,closest i come is ready cooked Chicken from my local supermarket, i still do all the accompaniments myself.

Oh I'll eat anywhere - I hate cooking!! so everyone else's cooking is better than mine and tastes nicer.

I am an excellent cook- I just choose not to do it very often...
