Re: I know i'm an oddball.......

Alice, not liking something doesn't make you an oddball, it makes you an individual. I doubt there is anyone who likes every food. I know it makes life difficult for you at times. As clumsy says, the Spanish habit of spreading bread with olive oil is a great alternative.
Now people who like Marmite, they really are oddballs.

For the next two years it was in and out of Sheffield childrens hospital, he couldnīt have milk or anything that contained milk. It got better as he got older and now, like me, the worst it does is cause bloating and upset stomach if too much food containing lactose is eaten or drunk. In my case I dislike butter and margarine and never put either on my toast or sandwich, the only milk I use is fully skimmed and that only on cereals or for cooking. If, as I do on occasion, have a little cream or ice cream it is only when in quick and easy reach of a toilet, believe me it really does work that fast. However this past couple of years our supermarkets have a really good range of lactose free milk, cheese and other products. The only cream I ever buy is Elm Lea which is none dairy and for me it is wonderful.

A nice way of making sandwiches without dairy is the Spanish way, a little olive oil with tomato rubbed over, itīs really very nice.
Clumsy, sorry to hear of the experience you had with your son. We don't realise how fortunate we are when lots of us can eat most foods without any after effect.

I just hate the taste of butter.

The olive oil and tomato sounds good. I love them both, so will give it a try

As long as you make a sandwich or roll with something that goes with it,
try spreading an avocado thinly on it. Nice with chicken or prawns.

As a baby I used to eat lard like eating a piece of chocolate. Don't think I could do that now.

Vegemite is a dark brown Australian food paste made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives...soldiers are toast cut into finger shapes.

marmite you either love it or hate it.
