Re: Corn On The Cob

Stuff they sell in the supermarkets is way too sweet for me but the dogs love it. Don't digest though so the following couple of days it's easy to what needs picking up

Re: Corn On The Cob

Oh don't, I used to love corn on the cob with either salt or butter on it.

Unfortunately not one of the things I can eat at the moment, but just you wait when I can. There will be mess everywhere.

Yes, I love it raw. Cooked as well, sure, but if it's sweet and tender enough (the fabulous stuff I get from the farmer's market every year) I can eat it right off the cob without even cooking it.

Re: Corn On The Cob

I buy the canned sweetcorn and mix it with rice and tuna for a super quick lunch

I love raw corn on the cob. The tinned or frozen seems to taste different somehow, ---sweeter, or perhaps it is just me

Re: Corn On The Cob

AutumnColor after I read this thread one of the things I bought when I next went shopping was corn on the cob, they were small ones and had garlic butter with them, so I boiled them for a little while then put the butter on, I then got a fork and run it down the sides to get the corn off and boy was it good.

Yes there was mess everywhere but I so enjoyed it.

Hi Frances I think something is always lost in the preserving process, I guess even frozen sweet corn is blanched to kill of the enzymes which cause the process of decay.

There is nothing quite like fresh sweetcorn is there

Re: Corn On The Cob

I love it-and yes I too spend the next two hours with dental sticks.

How times change-there was a time we(were told?) could not grow sweet corn here, and kale was cattle fodder.
