That right Barry it used up old bits of cheese, I thought it might be a Derbyshire thing .

I call it cheese on toast, although in the USof A they call it melted cheese.
Whatever people name it, it is truly wonderful , IMO, love it to death.

No matter what you call it - cheese on toast, or toasted cheese, it's just a great snack that can be eaten anytime. So simple but delicious

Re: Cheese on toast......

I have cheese on marmite on toast.

My gran, and I now, have chopped up onion, fried then a drop of water added and boiled for a bit. A lot of chopped up old cheese is added and melted. This is then poured over a fresh slice of bread and bliss

Re: Cheese on toast......

I like Cheese on Toast too with masses of pepper. These days I toast the bread in the toaster, add the cheese and pepper and melt the cheese in the microwave. Its not as good as doing it under the grill but its a lot quicker.

As an aside I would like to know which Uni the engineer who designed my toaster went to, the dam thing burns frozen bread on a setting of 5 (out of 10) Useless!
