Re: FAIRTRADE Products?

I assumed whether rightly or not that the rest of their products must be inferior based on the crap coffee

Re: FAIRTRADE Products?

What MKJ, Fairtrade? It's everywhere in the shops now - supposed to be better for the growers in far flung countries but it seems the big companies are profiteering, as usual.

Some of the stuff is not that good even though it's more expensive!

Re: FAIRTRADE Products?

I caught the tale end of something on tv recently where the use of the fair trade logo was questioned on some product, think it was a chocolate bar, anyway, the actual 'fair trade' constituent consisted of a small fraction of one of the ingredients, but still qualified it to be sold as 'fair trade'.

Also have noticed that, frequently, produce sold under this label is more expensive than non fair trade products. Is this higher price reflected in the sum the producers receive, or is this added to the mother company's profit in order for them to pay the producers without losing out?
