One thing we are all entitled to is our opinion, and also to be able to voice our opinion without being shouted down or belittled by anyone else.

What we are not entitled to do is try to force our opinion on other people.

I think many of us think ‘rights and ‘entitlement’ mean the same thing but they have two distinct meanings.

We all have a right to some things in life, like free speech and opinion. Tenants have the right of the ‘quiet enjoyment’ of the property they live in.

It seems, rights are harder to take away than our entitlements, which are removable.

We are generally privileged in the UK. It isn't entitlement it is luck.
One would hope that everyone in the world could have access to a minimum of clean water, food, shelter and an education. Unfortunately that isn't the case.

Neither have I. You work for what you want in this life. We are not entitled to anything, even our pensions we have paid in for. Doesn't stop the tax people taxing you on them though, even if you paid the tax before. Apparently I get too much pension after a rise by the government which put me over the limit. Why bother to give me a rise then.

I always expected to do well financially so long as I worked hard for it. well, I worked hard for it but never really earned the money. Not that money is everything of course but it helps.

I agree, Meg, and have always believed that one never gets out of life more than one is prepared to put in.
