I think its inevitable that the human race will become extinct at some point due to some cataclysmic event wether its of our own doing or something else remains to be seen, our only hope would be to leave this planet and find somewhere else to live

We will, as a species, become extinct it is inevitable. This planet, like all others is subject to evolutionary forces that are part of the inexorable advance of time.

We've had the age of the fish.
We've had the age of the reptiles.
We're in the age of the mammals right now.

Soon, it might be the age of the insects....
... perhaps we can include bacteria as well.
