Aysa: I am not too familiar with the NIV only the Kings James (grew up with that one and stuck to it !) NIV is quite different.

DerbyGal, there is unfortunately an entire debate to be had on this one topic alone but to conduct it here would be to hi-jack the thread.

Whatever you or I or anyone thinks of what we perceive to be The Bible, we must be mindful that the Bible that we know, that is presented to us and replicated by print presses world-wide, is a HUGELY edited, censored and a massively cut down version of the actual set of works. There are many many Gospels for example but your Bible has but 4.

To believe "the Bible" as it is presented to you, is to simply submit to the control and conditioning of a group of MEN/WOMEN who have bastardised a much larger work in order that you only see the parts they want you to see.
If you believe such actions would be the work of "God" then I shall not stand in your way.

This would mean, as a rational human being, you would purposely choose not to want to read the entire picture, including the Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Judas, of Peter and so on.

I had this argument out with a 92 year old gentleman who I am very fond of. He is now a Catholic. He could not answer my questions, had not rational answers, and simply said you have to choose to accept the Papal decree and censorship on what they say IS and what IS NOT genuine.

Truth is always simple, and beautiful and resounds within your very being. The "Bible" as we currently know it and as it is doctored for us, is not what I call truth.

Re: Mass Extinction?

Who cares about Planets and perpetual motion
All we are is a drop in the Ocean
The creator has made his infinite plan
And it doesn’t include woman or man
We keep on fighting and Brother kills brother
Our chances are gone and we won’t get another
Dance your last dances and sing your last songs
And try to right all your sad wrongs
It might be tomorrow or it could be next week
One way or the other the future is bleak
So look up to the skies till your blue in the face
Then kiss goodbye to the doomed human race.
(Mars Barr)

I do hope that cheered you all up no end on this dull cloudy morning in Dublins fair City.

Very good but the last 2 lines need altering I reckon to this ...

So strain all you want whilst you search in the sky
But you may as well look earthward and kiss your arse goodbye.

Better?

Fear not. The end of the world is light years away-I was talking to this Vogan only the other day who told me the interstellar by pass had been cancelled due to going over budget and a debt crisis over the cost of Milky Way bars
