The moon is also the closest it can get to Earth at a mere 222,000 miles. This means that it will appear to be about 14% larger than usual.
Last night, Saturday 26th, it was spectacular, and tonight promises to be even better. Unless you are in Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK will probably have a cloud-clear night.
It doesn't get any better than this, and it's F.R.E.E.......
Mind you, they will probably announce on tonight's news that a new Lunar Viewing Tax has been introduced....
