The All Seeing Eye

These satellite cameras are and have captured events around the world. You do wonder how far this technology will go and how it will be used in the not so distant future.

Re: The All Seeing Eye

Yes, Big Brother is watching us and has been for many years.

There are well over 2000 man-made satellites orbiting Earth. Many (most?) of these have photographic capability.

It is no stretch of the imagination to realise that these satellites are constantly taking pictures and logging them in huge database archives.

The impact of this should not be underestimated. It means whatever you do, wherever you go, you ARE being filmed and watched. It needs to be understood that these cameras can focus down to and identify objects as small as coins.

In terms of solving crimes this technology is invaluable. It means you can "rewind" the story from the crime scene and work out everyone's movements. Suppose someone bombs a supermarket. You could take the satellite photos from the point of the explosion and work backwards. You could see and identify every car or van that entered the car park and track those vehicles right back to their start points which could be miles away. You could also track pedestrians, watch them walking into the car park and reverse this to see where they originally walked from.

Nothing we do anymore can be a secret. Everything is bagged and tagged and catalogued.

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Hi

Would that be true, but unfortunately those who control the high end stuff won't even admit they have it, much less tell you if they had any assets in place at a given place and time.
they certainly won't release anything unless it suits them.

The Military of certain countries still haven't released the info that they have on the lost plane, MH375.

The Thai Air Force even denied their radar was working at the time.

Politics, don't admit you are spying on your neighbours.

CCTV?

Well, following the cuts, loads of it has been turned off, there are no national standards, some of the private stuff is of very poor quality and useless really.

So, if Mrs Smith of 8 Acacia Avenue gets her TV nicked, no one will be looking at tapes to catch the thieves.

On the other hand, every text, phone call, internet log on is recorded, analysed and if worthy of interest, stored.

The biggest source of information is strangely enough, loyalty cards, Tesco's know more about you than the Government.

When they get X-Ray capabilities is when you really need to worry.
