Its a pity he left early I believed he was gifted and there may well have been more great tunes if he had not gone to the drugs.
I am always amused at how some of these greats die alone, but once they have gone how the cretins crawl from the woodwork to fight over his estate. Where were they when he needed them.
Great showman loves the audiance.

GM was utterly talented. Not always for my ears but a complete performer and gifted, creative talent but , like a lot his kind....vulnerable and flawed!!
Made some beautiful and timeless music. Had a lot more to give. A lot like Amy Winehouse, another brilliant talent imo ( not sound wise but personality wise)

A very talented fella I think his music is great no matter what style he puts his mind to.
I can't imagine this went down well with the snobby bbc in the early days.
First solo single.

They never looked like that in my day.

Re: My Own Personal Choice of Music.

Hey Floydy I see you posted a Waterboys album.
Great music but I also liked some of Mike Scotts others mainly A Pagan Place I thought was a great album.
Here's a couple of my favs from the album.

Could well use some of the lyrics in a Brexit song.

I posted A Church Not Made With Hands sometime ago.

And this one so much better that Morrisons version. (Not on the Pagan album)

Re: My Own Personal Choice of Music.

I like those Mike Scott songs very much, Longfellow and I'll have to check out some of his solo albums. A very soulful rendition of the old Van Morrison song, although I love the original still.
To be honest I need some more Waterboys albums too...there's just so much to catch up on.

Re: My Own Personal Choice of Music.

You know mate, before the images appeared I knew it was going to be Deacon Blue.
One of my all-time favourite songs is Real Gone Kid. Our friends who we associate with occasionally still get up on the dancefloor with us in a big circle and dance to that record. It's our own personal song.
And Dignity - that is simply a classic from a wonderful album, Raintown. Expect to see that album in my list very high up.
Nice choice again today, bud
