Re: Abuse ignored yet again

I do hope I am not becoming too cynical-but all this just before an election does make me wonder.

True, but we seemed to get to "know" our foster parents and childrens homes back then. Maybe I'm being cynical, but things are definitely different these days. Looks like our Office was more meticulous than some, which is awful to have to even say that.

Re: Abuse ignored yet again

Well having had several times here young people from social services who have done their very best to separate our family I admit to being a little biased. I had a great deal of respect when we took on our nephews the lady who came to see us when we complained, she was in her 50s and seemed to understand family dynamics and how a white non muslim family could cope with black muslim children. Sadly her colleagues in their late teens seemed rather put out at multi racial multi faith families. Hope that has changed now.

Re: Abuse ignored yet again

Anyone on here ready to volunteer to take some of these problem teenage girls into their own home and attempt to bring them up? Hmmm...

It´s not a job I´d want to take on - my own daughter was challenge enough. These incidents are a product of our times and ´culture´ - how would you connect with a teenager who is steeped in hormones, sees the sort of life so-called adults lead, is bombarded with thinly veiled porn on the TV and internet - the list goes on. A friendly face, a bit of sympathy, some gifts of drugs and booze, and they´re hooked. No-one else treats them like this or even bothers with them - they´re a pushover for the local hoods.

Have my hands full already with a 5 year old or I would have a go, not that SS would allow me, we have discipline and routine and that doesn't go down too well if you apply to foster we found.
