Brace Yourself.... Here’s Another ‘What On Earth Is This?’

I found this rusty, horseshoe shaped ‘bolt’ outside, near my garage. Now l am concerned that it’s something important?

It’s about 2” wide and 3” tall. Sorry, but l am not very good on the metric equivalent.

I wondered if anyone might know and be able to tell me what it may have come off?

Its rusty and has no signs of use, so I wouldn't worry about it. Chuck it in the bin

looks like a farm gate latch part that hoops over a gate post or hnolds two posts together.

Don't think it is a male sex torture tool the threads are too long

what was there before your home? might give you a clue. may have been part of a farm originally. Definately some sort of a clamp

It is just a rusty U bolt, common as muck ,you can get them at any hardware store.

Yes, actually it was a chicken farm before this house was built here..... but l have lived here for 16 years and this ‘bolt’ has only just turned up.

Well things haven't collapsed while its been lying in the muck through about 14 winters, so I really wouldn't worry too much! Clean it up and see if there are any markings on it....it might be ancient and valuable

Must have been a helluva sized chicken that needed tied up and secured with that then!
