If Boris does back down, he and his party will have to suffer the consequences.

Quite so.
The EU has had long enough to understand that (despite their suggestions) we do not expect anything above a standard Canada-type trade deal - and the argument that because we are geographically closer and larger won't cut it when the statistics make the EU's huge surplus in trade an obvious factor.

This whole Brexit saga must be decisively concluded and soon or Boris and the whole Tory party will indeed pay for it dearly.
They surely know this thanks to Farage and they have recent experience of how capable he is of causing great upset against their expectations.

Ho hum.
*Yawn.*
I would love to see Monsewer Barmier admit defeat and pull all his unrealistic demands - but I can't see it.

Meanwhile our own media are trying to up the anti-Brexit ante.
We want out & if the EU cause problems that were not there before we will hold them responsible; after all, we trade with the rest of the world without problems.

Re: Ominous News!!

You know, in a way I feel sorry for the EU.

They thought they'd conquered us, in a peaceful sort of way.
After a thousand years of attempts, they thought they'd finally achieved something that no-one else has been able to do, only to find that are now trying to break free.

For all those 40 years, they have been relying on us to provide them with money, efficient working businesses to relocate to their own countries, and a place to welcome their unwanted people.

Now we're demanding that they return what we thought were our internationally recognised seas and, to make things worse, asking them for a free trade arrangement.

I think it's only natural that they should insist on our paying them handsomely to discuss the matter and, of course, to eventually agree that we've made a mistake and should ask them to forgive us for abusing their trust.

Yes, I can see that they are trying their best to help us by welcoming us back to their fold. I think we should be grateful for their kindness.

Labour are more divided than ever, never mind what the official line might be.
Plus each and every Labour MP knows that if they don't vote the way their electorate wants them to that they too will be toast next time around.

I should be happy to have a fair FTA with the EU as long as we retain all our rights as an independent and sovereign nation. Our fishing areas are ours, though we may allow some limited access on licence, renewable every year.
The way we support our own businesses is up to us and is of no concern of the EU.
Finally, Northern Ireland is part of the UK and will remain so in all respects.
Exactly that JBR !!
Nearly 5yrs of eu crap for sweet FA ???
Not for me!!!
The EU must think our "leaders" are still calling the shots?
This is a democratic decision something they are unfamiliar with?

changing our suppliers??
EU only comprises approx 12% of UK trade world wide and so is
actually being subsidised by our non eu trade to the tune of
£100 billion if you include our club fees?
So for me its a no brainer !!

Donkeyman! 🤔🤔

I don't think it is either DM. I would like an FTA but it would have to be a "no strings attached" arrangement. I doubt thats possible with the EU cretins.

We should be telling them about access to our single market and our standards etc.
