Not only have I participated in strikes, but actually led one too - brought the whole of Southern Region trains to a standstill.

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

We were always going down the pub if the management were unreasonable, the forman even used to roust us out of the canteen when we were just twenty minutes late coming out...You can't just leave a good hand at cards though can you?

My opinion of strikes changed when I went self employed...

I would never cross a picket line though so when the Royal Mail went on strike I turned up for work and was turned back at the gate, so I went for a run instead around all the lanes and paths I walked on my round....Very scenic and no bag to carry....The strike only lasted the one day...

Re: Have you ever been on strike?

only once when the union called out everyone working for BT. I didn't want to but it was that or being blacklegged . The strike didn't achieve anything and I lost a load of wages needed to pay the mortgage. Even had to borrow of relatives at the time.
Strike are about the worst thing ever

I think the Unions did a good job when they started. Unfortunately, a lot were hijacked by left-wing hypocrites who professed to serve the workers while all the time making sure they didn't go without anything themselves. You only have to look at people like Scargill and Lavery ....

That's the problem isn't it. I also have never needed anyone to represent me but I can understand that in some professions it would be nice to have the protection; unfortunately it has always been the union leaders that have gained the most.

You can really be proud of your actions and have a good laugh at the disruption you caused to many commuters
