Academy schools

I bet many parents of children who opted to have their kids educated in academies rather than local authority schools are now deeply regretting their decision.

There's far too much experimenting with schools these days. I'm convinced the education system was better when I was a child than it is today.

My grandchildren's school changed to an Academy a year ago and it has proved to be a huge improvement to the Local Authority school it used to be. My daughter and I have nothing but praise for their help and understanding of individual pupils.

The whole academy/free schools/teach first movement is an insidious means to privatise education.
Teachers' conditions and pay are being eroded and many of these schools have no , or discourage, teachers' Unions. There are also many instances of older and more experienced teachers being got rid of and being replaced by younger inexperienced teachers who are much cheaper.
