I tend to agree with your hubby - just had sweet chilli pork sausages, onions, eggs, mushrooms, fried tomato, hash browns, fried bread and bacon for my dinner this evening. Must have all the food groups there, surely?

I do it all on the BBQ to save on the washing up.

Re: Breakfast Egg in Bacon Basket

Hi ST. Thanks for trying this recipe so quickly and your kind comments.
I can always depend on you!. They just look so nice and appealing on the plate and I found one was very filling with a slice of wholemeal toast. Better for me than frying an egg which we all know is the naughtiest way of cooking an egg!! LOL.

Re: Breakfast Egg in Bacon Basket

Hi Bruce. Yep, you are so like he who must obey. If we go out for breakfast or lunch, HE is the one who orders the King Size Breakfast or the Mammoth Mixed Grill. Where the hell he puts it I do not know, he is still lovely and slim, Me? I only have to look at a potato and put on weight.

Must confess, He who must obey did have Mushrooms and Grilled tomatoes with his Egg in Bacon Baskets plus two slices of Thickly sliced Toast with butter that left teeth marks!!!!! but hey, at least he didn't have a fried egg as usual. LOL.

Re: Breakfast Egg in Bacon Basket

Just a question? ....do you grease the muffin tin, or is the bacon enough on it's own to prevent sticking.

Re: Breakfast Egg in Bacon Basket

I used ramekins and the bacon was sufficient to stop it sticking.

No microwave - bacon won't crisp up properly.

Yes it does, just cook it longer. You can cook it to the point it snaps if you want. Microwaves will heat the fat to the same temperature as a pan or BBQ in fact you have to be careful not to burn yourself.

BTW I wrap the bacon in paper towel stop it spitting. It is not exactly the same as cooking it on the BBQ but pretty damn close.
