The Last Kingdom

Has anyone been watching this? It's on netflix and about England in the 9th C. A semi fictional account of the Danish invasion leaving a sole kingdom of Wessex. Although a fictional account based on novels it uses actual historical events as part of the story. I don't remember learning this part of English history. It's a bit Game of Thrones without the fantasy.

I watched the first couple of series and loved it, absolutely loved it, but can't watch it any more as it moved from Freeview to Netflix which I don't have and I'm hopping mad.
