Empire Day is the 24th May

I still sing the song every 24th May. Used to love walking around the streets with an old dress
of my Mams and all the kids would join in and go around with a King and Queen leading the
parade. Still has good memories for me. How about you? Mind you cant really remember
if I knew what Empire Day was truly about, just loved the dressing up and singing and
some people would even give you a 1d. That was what probably swayed me into doing it lol.

All I can remember about it was that we got the opportunity to wear our wolf cub uniform to school on that day. Other than that it didn't mean a lot to us as kids.

Re: Empire Day is the 24th May

Since Britain no longer has an empire (and I was NEVER an imperialist anyway) the commemoration is meaningless.

To be honest Joe, I didn't know it was still commemorated - it was pretty meaningless back in the '50's let alone nowadays.
